DREAM JOURNAL

This is where I keep occasional logs about the strange adventures that occur in my brain during the night. Some stories are told in story format whilst others are a mess of bullet points and details that probably won't make any sense to anyone but me.

I just thought these might be an interesting read to some of you. Enjoy!
Sometime in 2025 (I can't remember)
I had a dream where I was lining up in an auditorium to take a math exam. Some friends were there. My boyfriend was there. Even my mum was there. After a bit, I got impatient and decided to go outside the room and wander the halls. The outside was a weird mix of the outside footpaths and also like a standard American high school hallway area. I spotted a cat casually walking past. It was dark and fluffy and had this graceful air to its strut. For some reason, I had a major hunch that I knew this cat.
"Loki?" I asked the cat, unsure if it would respond. The cat stopped and turned to look at me.
"Well I didn't know I'd be spotted by a mere mortal." It spoke back. Before I could react, another fluffy cat ran up, panting and shouting to the first cat.
"Wait brother. You don't understand what's out here." Its voice sounded familiar and without question I had a strong feeling about who the cats really were.
"So. What business do the Norse gods have on earth today?" I asked. They both turned to me, staring at me with their beady cat eyes and fluffy tails waving gracefully.
"Our duty is none of your concern young lady." Said Cat Loki. "But you're welcome to join us if you're up for the challenge." He struts around me as I crouch down, tempted to pet his soft fur.
"What is your name, maiden?" Asked Cat Thor. I hesitated for a moment, thinking there may be consequences if they knew my real name.
"Just call me N." Suddenly the two cats transformed back to their real human form and I realised just how tall they both are. Their human form took the appearance of their respective MCU actors and it was hard to stay focused.
I looked back to the auditorium and still saw the crowd of students and parents waiting in line and chatting amongst themselves. I figured it wouldn't hurt to slip out for a few moments to spend time with literal Norse gods. I was about to say something until a flock of budgies and other birds fly past in a hurry. The unnatural sight of birds worried Thor and he ran down to see the commotion, maybe thinking he could help. Loki, on the other hand, stayed still with his arms folded.
"What an idiot. Always rushing into anything he thinks needs saving." He shook his head as I stepped closer out of curiosity.
"Can you turn back into cat form?"
"What?" He looked back at me, surprised and a bit flustered.
"I just wanted to see your fluffy coat again."
After a moment of silence and disbelief, Loki decided to show off his transformation skills and return to his cat form. I couldn't help but reach out for a pet. Surprisingly enough, he accepted my touch and leaned in for more pets. Maybe I helped reach an itchy spot.
"Wow, your coat is very soft."
"Mm, it's the best after all." He was almost purring but quickly caught himself and stopped.
"Enough!" He yelped as he poofed back into human form. I could see he looked a bit embarrassed as he stepped away. I was a bit disappointed I couldn't pat the fluffy cat Loki anymore.
The hallway we stood in was mostly empty but had a few lockers and bags around. With Thor chasing after the birds, there was a quiet air between Loki and I. There was also some chalk scattered with markings of hopscotch on the ground. When I noticed the chalk, the floor had changed to like a concrete material and Loki seemed interested in the drawings people had made. After a moment, I showed him what chalk was and drew a little portrait of the two Asgardian brothers on the ground. Loki looked impressed and tried his hand at drawing. I couldn't remember what his drawing looked like but I remembered his face as he knelt down, concentrated on his work and his proud smile after he was done.
"Lets take a picture!" I jumped up excitedly. I wanted to capture this sweet moment and maybe show others I met both the God of Thunder and God of Mischief. We took photos of our chalk drawings. I did a selfie with Loki who looked a little awkward but smiled anyway.
After a brief photo session, Thor came back and urged Loki to leave soon too.
"It was a pleasure meeting you, N. Until next time." Said Thor as he patted me on the back.
"Goodbye, N. This was fun." Loki smiled sweetly and waved goodbye. In a quick moment, both brothers turned back into cats and ran down the hallway out of sight. I walked back into the auditorium and dreaded my math exam again. I woke up as soon as I was seated and flipped open the paper.
